ITEM 5.5.
MEMORANDUM
TO: Mayor & City Council
FROM: Pat Klaers, City Administrator
DATE: July 17,1995
SUBJECT: Review Council Meeting Schedule
All Councilmembers are encouraged to bring their calendars to this meeting so that we
can look at our meeting schedule for the next few weeks.
The meeting agenda for Monday, July 24, is filling up and the major discussion items are
scheduled to be the overlay project for 1995 and the proposed Housing Maintenance
Code.
Monday, July 31, 1995, is the fifth Monday of the month. The Utilities Commission has
indicated that they are all available for a joint meeting with the City Council on that date
if the meeting can be scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. One Commissioner has a commitment
at 6 p.m. and needs to leave at that time. If the City Council feels that there is going to be
more than one hours worth of discussion items, then we may need to look at a different
meeting date. On the other hand, if one hour is sufficient for our joint meeting, then the
Council could use the rest of the evening on 7/31 to adjourn into a worksession to
continue to discuss the east Elk River and East Highway 10 public improvement project.
The meeting schedule for the first two weeks of August is getting somewhat confusing.
On the other hand, the meetings for the last two weeks of August are set. On 8/21 we
will have our Planning, Building and Zoning public hearing night, and on 8/28 we will
have our first budget worksession. Now, to get back to the first two weeks of August, it
should be acknowledged that the EDA has scheduled its August meeting for Tuesday,
August 8, 1995, at 5 p.m. (This is a change from its typical meeting night of Monday,
August 14, which is the second Monday of the month.) This change means that the City
Council can meet on its regular date of Monday, August 7, or could change its first
meeting of the month date to Monday, August 14, 1995. If the Council does not meet on
8/7, we will want to call a special meeting for 8/8 at 4:50 p.m., to approve the check
register. It should be noted that at this time there are no agenda items scheduled for the
first meeting of August, but also, that this is no too unusual and that the Council can
anticipate a relatively full meeting agenda being developed in the next two or three
weeks.
I need to know two things from the City Council. First, does the City Council want to
hold a special meeting on the fifth Monday of the month -July 31, 1995, as a joint
meeting with the Utilities Commission for one hour and as a East Highway 10 public
