SUBJECT: Recommendation on Hiring a
Zoning Assistant
The city received 74 applications for the position of zoning assistant. Steve
Ach, Gary Schmitz, and myself, interviewed 8 of those applicants. We are all
in agreement on hiring Kendra Lindahl.
Ms. Lindahl has a Bachelor of Arts degree in political science from the
University of Minnesota, Morris, and has a Master of Arts degree from
Hamline University in public administration. Ms. Lindahl is currently
working for the City of Ramsey doing code enforcement and other various
zoning tasks. Her jobs prior to the City of Ramsey include Lakes and Pines
• Community Action Council and 15 months with the Metropolitan Council
doing various planning projects.
We are recommending that Ms. Lindahl start employment July 31, 1995, at
step D of pay grade #8, which is $10.42 per/hour. She would then receive a
cost of living increase on January 1, 1996 and her first step increase on July
1, 1996. From that point forward she would be on a regular cost of living and
step increase schedule.
We are excited to get Kendra and feel she will be an asset to both the
Planning and Building and Zoning Departments.
