SUBJECT: Woodland Trails Park
As the construction progresses, it was suggested that concrete curb and
gutter be considered for the entrance road and the parking lot at Woodland
Trails Park. This would total approximately 2,000 lineal feet of curb and cost
about $18,000. The matching grant funds could be used for the curbing, but
that would lessen the distance of trail that we could pave. For instance, we
are planning to pave 12,000 lineal feet of trail. Reducing that to 8,600 lineal
feet would pay for the curbing.
Another possibility would be to partially pay for the curbing with surplus
funds from the installed materials, which I estimate would be $6,000 to
• $9,000. However, there is no way to know that number until the final
quantities are tabulated.
The Park and Recreation Commission considered this issue and voted 6-1 to
support the addition of curb and gutter and to fund as much as possible with
grant funds and the remainder with park dedication funds.
I will be present at the 7/24 Council meeting to further explain the funding
issue as well as to answer questions.
