SUBJECT: Contract Paving of Hiking Trails in Heritage
Landing, Country Crossings, Meadowvale
Hieights and School View.
I received three quotes for the above-mentioned project:
Blacktop Service $39.00/ton or $19,695.00
H & M Asphalt $36.49/ton or $18,427.00
Elk River Bituminous $28.95/ton or $14,620.00
The City's purchase price for the material alone would be $9,595.00. The cost to haul,
lay and compact the bituminous is $5,050.00.
• To do this project with city equipment would require three full days with an eight
member paving crew. This puts all other projects on hold, including paint striping,
mowing and playground improvements.
I would prefer to hire a contractor to do the paving and keep my staff busy on other
projects. I feel the Elk River Bituminous quote is a fair price and would recommend that
the Council approve it.
