SUBJECT: City Engineer Verbal Update On Public Improvement Projects As the City Engineer, Terry Mauer is scheduled to be in attendance at this City Council meeting, it is appropriate for him to update the City Council on the status of public improvement projects that are happening in Elk River. These projects include the following: - Western area Phase II streets trunk sewer and water along with the improvements associated with residential developments and the Business Park. • -The Elk Park Center improvement project and related street improvements on School Street and Jackson Avenue plus related trunk/lateral sewer and water improvements in the Northeast area. - Planned improvements are scheduled to begin after Labor Day on Elk Hills Drive and Dodge Street/Avenue intersection. - County Road 12 and 13 drainage improvement project. - Main and Evans Street drainage improvement project. - County improvement project for County Road 1-Phase I between Meadowvale Road and County Road 32 in 1995 and Phase II between Meadowvale Road and Proctor Avenue in 1996. - County traffic signal warrants analysis for the intersection of School Street and County Road 1 (Proctor Avenue). BOX 338 • ELK RIVER, MN 55330 PHONE (612)441-1722 FAX (612)441-2264 Mr. Pat Klaers City Administrator Elk River City Hall 13065 Orono Parkway Elk River, MN 55330 RE: CSAH 1 Improvements Dear Pat: As we recently discussed, the above referenced project has been changed slightly to reflect the following: - Phase 2, originally expected to be constructed between October, 1995 and November, 1995 will remain on this schedule but is now referred to as Phase 1. -The original Phase 1 was expected to be started in August, 1995, and completed before the new school year will not be started until next year when the school year is complete. This part of the project is now considered Phase 2. Phase 1 of the project will now reflect a full four-lane wide section between CR 44 and CR 32. The roadway will be striped for a northbound right-turn-lane at the Country Club entrance. Channelization to meet the existing roadway north of CR 32 will occur between this entrance and CR 32. Box 490 Elk River, MN 55330 RE: ~SAH 1 at School Street Traffic Signal Study Dear Sandra: As requested in your June 26, 1995, correspondence, the Sherburne County Board of • Commissioners passed a motion at their July 5, 1995, meeting requesting the Highway Department to seek proposals for the completion of the above referenced study. Their motion also indicated that the cost for the study and the traffic signal if it is warranted should be shared. equally by the City and the County. We have forwarded a summary of the proposals for the study to your Engineer for his review and expect to have a consultant selected by the end of the week.
