We have tabulated the bids opened on Thursday, August 17, 1995, for the Dodge!Elk Hills
Drive Intersection Improvements. There were a total of five bids. The following is a list

The overall cost of the improvement is slightly higher than anticipated. I believe this is
primarily due ro two factors. One is trying to maintain access to the businesses south. on
Dodge during the construction activities, and the second factor is a condensed construction
period late in the fall.
Forest Lake Contracting was the contractor who built School Street and Jackson Avenue.
They have successfully completed many projects in the past. We would therefore be
prepared to recommend award to them as the lowest responsible bidder. The award should
ofticES ~". be contingent on the Developer placing a surety acceptable to the City Attorney.
