REQUEST TO HIRE CLAYTON
TALBOT AS A BUILDING
INSPECTOR
City staff recently advertised in the Elk River Star News and the StarTribune metro
section for a Building Inspector Position with the city. The city received 21 applications,
five of which were interviewed. Staff is recommending that the city hire Clayton
Talbot for this position.
Mr. Talbot has a certificate in Building Inspection Technology from North Hennepin
Community College, he is a Certified Building Official, and he is certified as an Onsite
Sewage Inspector by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. He is currently employed
as a Building Inspector by Sherburne County, where he has worked since July of 1999.
Staff further recommends that Mr. Talbot's starting date is June 4th and based on his
experience level that his starting pay grade is 13, step B ($17.77/hr.). Mr. Talbot's
orientation period will end on December 3rd. Following a successful orientation period
he will receive a normal cost of living increase in January of 2002 and his first step
increase in July of 2002.
