MEMORANDUM
TO: City Council
FROM: Tina Allard, City Clerk
DATE: December 7, 2009
SUBJECT: Cable Commission Update
New Cameras
You may have noticed the new cameras installed in Council Chambers. They have been
upgraded and we'll be ready when Channel 12 switches to high definition (no dates know at
this time). Many manufacturers have started to phase out the standard definition equipment
and it is getting more difficult to find replacement parts.
Commission Cable Producer
The Commission has hired Mark Davis as its first employee. Mark will rotate among the
various commission cities to provide assistance and produce video projects. Mark recently
completed a production of the Northstar Commuter Launch event which will air soon. He
also completed a video that was used by all cities regarding Fire Prevention Month and is
working on some logo branding options for the Commission.
Area Wide Channel
The Commission is moving forward with activating an area wide channel. This channel will
allow playback of programming among all the households on the Charter Cable system in
Sherburne and Wright Counties.
Production Trailer
The Commission appxoved the purchase of a 24' production trailer. It will have heating and
air and allow for an observation camera deck on top. The Sherburne County fair parade is
the city's first planned use for this trailer.
Elk River Cable Producer
Jake is editing an Environment Elk Diver production that will focus on the organics recycling
program. The next episode of The Mayor's Show will focus on the Northstar Commuter Rail.
PSA's regarding Energy City, Northstar and the Elk River Arena have recently been
completed. Liz is currently editing a PSA for the Library regarding their new Book News
feature.
