This is a very successful program that residents look forward to participating in each year. Residents are allowed to bring in one load of junk, but these items cannot be funded through County subsidy, and therefore drastically increase the cost of our clean up events. The landfill charges ~95~ton, while the cost through clean up week has remained a mere $10~load. ~Ihile most loads of junk are small, averaging a landfill cost of approximately X35, one resident's load during the Fall event was 1.05 tons, Another source of high disposal costs is electronics. The average cost of an electronic item at the landfill is $17 each, with a maximum cost of X30 per item ~ie: console TV's and computer systems}.The clean up cost for residents has been ~6 per item, with computer components having a nightly higher disposal rate. Sherburne County helps subsidize the Spring clean up events and has recently approved use of clean up funds for the Fall events as well when requested}.
