In October the City submitted their numbers for the state diesel and gas bids. The numbers
submitted included the Utilities for 3,600 gal of diesel and 7,800 gal of gas. This is
approximately 75% of the Utilities' 2010 projected usage. This will require the Utilities staff to
fuel up at the City Garage most of the time. Because of the recent upgrade to the Utilities' fuel
pump, the City's and Utilities' fuel pump work off the same card system. This should make
tracking usage and billing easier.
From January 2010 - 2011, the contract price for 87 Octane unleaded is $2.0989 and BS diesel is
$2.2354. Compared to current prices at the pump, this will result in an approximate $6,000
savings.
