Christmas Downtown: Do1111a is trying to get a set of trees to setup behind Sa11ta at the
Pal"k bo1"rowed for pictures and axnUiance. Fred will piclf ~tp the trees and bring them to
the parr and return them to the tree stand. We will have the Gifts A11o11ymolts barrel at
the pay."l~. We shoLtld prime the ba~•re1. Need greeters in the parr to welcome people
standing in line for Santa and update the111 as to what activities are going on downtown.
A1111ie and Donna will start at 11; 30AM to 1; 30PM, Deb will greet from 1; 3D to 3PM.
RSVP has been asl~ed to serve coffee a11d coolies fill the parr fro11112 to 3PM ~dollated
by Don's Bakery}, A nlotioll was made a11d carried for Rivers Edge to pay for the cups
for the coffee. The Chair that Santa sat on in previous years is 110 longer available. Do1111a

more copies of the red newspaper insert of activities to be passed out at the parr. Parr
and Rec will bring the gift bags for Sa11ta to pass out.

Downtown Business Get Together: At our 11ext meeting we will discuss a Febt°uary get
together for downtown businesses after hours possibly at the Arts Alliance Gallery. Goal
is to 11e1p dowlatowxl business people get to k11ow each other, ilnprove networkixag
together, increase traffic and business downtown,
Motion was made and carried to pay Elk River Chamber of Commerce Dues.

a lot of interest iI1 this years Expo. Slle also spore about recycling initiatives for

businesses do a better job of I"ecycling. Rivers Edge could have a table with illformatiola
about downtown alld space for 11a11dollts if we would life. Discussion was to 11ave a large

campaign on Feb, 1 called "1,000 Acts of Ralldoln I~iI1dlless." Her idea is to Dave 1,000
acts of 1~i11d11ess co111n1itted and recorded by the end February. It's also her hope to have
some type of kindness tl1er111on1eter erected in River's Edge Commons Parr ill downtown
Ells River to gauge progress toward t11e goal, Sl1e's ope11 to suggestions for that, or better
yet a willing carpe~ate~". Mayor Klrnzing's 1~indl~ess campaign is not a city Initiative. S11e's
partnering with the Star News so t11e acts of ki11dl1ess call be pllt ill writing a11d put ollt

Santa Dowlltowll: Huge thanks to Parr alad Rec, Annie, Donlla and Stepl1a11ie for all their
1aa1"d worl~ to mare this a successful event. Stephanie said that tlae 3 50 bags were all giver
out and slle thought that there could have been 500 cllildl"e11 who visited with Santa. Sa11ta
did agreat j ob -11e llad worked with the kids a11d called many by name wllicll was a big
thrill for t11e111. Do1111a said that Don's Bakery used over 400 cups to provide free coffee
to adults dowlltowll. Tl1e Cr1ftS A11011y111ol1s bllcl~et Was filled lip tWlce. Next year we
could collect food also. Tl1e a11i111a1s were cute and added interest to the wait to see Santa.
Many families tools their own pictures of t11eil" children i11 the sleigh by the kiosl~. Tony
Mikols took video of the activities. There was so111e colacern about parents clad children
crossing Main Sheet at the stop signs. Tl1e Nutc~acke~"s in fi"ox1~ of Edward Jones attracted
a lot of good attention, Vie could put up "Santa Allead" signs on Main Street to alert

for tri~lkets and candy to put in the gift bags and Dave an organized process to mare sure

Halloween and Claristnlas 2010 in August and setup subcommittees to work on holiday

partnered with us and provided a reserve police officer, satellites and jersey barriers. We

Downtown Advertising Qptio~ls: Marlys from the Star News came and axaswered
questions about a downtown business ad in the paper". one optio~l would be to do a list of
businesses or coupons, Could do a newspaper ixasez~t or have it be an ad as a group for
$725,00. If we wa11t to do an insert would be $G00 to distribute ~depe~ldi~ag ox1 the area
that the inse~~t would go to We would Dave to decide if should go the Rogers, Gtsego
andlor Zimmerman also,} plus cost of printi~lg.
Downtown Business Get Together; Vie are going to schedule a downtown business get
together - similar to the Chamber's after hours, fur goal is to invite all of the busi~lesses
calla are located downtown so that we can get to know each other better, This will 11e1p us
worl~ bettez" togetllex" ix1 planning downtown eve~ats and help us cross promote our
busi~lesses more effectively, Sara said slle would check with the Bluffs management to
see if we could use their party roo111, We11dy said she would check with the Arts Alliance
