Old City Dump
In 2001, another round of testing of the wells at the old city dump in Hillside Park and
adjacent residential wells was conducted. A cover letter from John Lichter of Liesch
and Associates, the city's environmental consultant for this issue, is attached to this
memo. Staff will provide the Council with a complete copy of the test results, if
desired.
Two of the residential wells that have been tested in the past no longer exist. They
were abandoned when the associated residences hooked up to city services. The other
two residential wells tested had no contamination evident. Low levels (below the
action limits set by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency) of volatile organic
compounds were detected in the'monitoring wells at the dump.
The levels of contamination do not dictate that the city takes any further action at this
time. Staff is recommending that these wells are sampled again next year.
