SUBJECT: 2010 Potential Overlay Projects
Past practice has been to do the street overlay projects on even numbered years and a
reconstruction project on the odd numbered years. The following list identifies the potential
overlay projects and commentary on each for 2010:
Ridgewood East
- Pavement condition warrants an overlay.
- Constructed in the mid 1970's, overlaid in 1987.
- The storm water is all handled as surface water and in some areas the City
does not have drainage easements. Due to large lots, there is potential to do
"rain garden" infiltration ponds along the street edges in some locations.
- Unconfirmed reports are that some septic systems have been relocated once
and may be near failure a second time, making the addition of sewer and
water a consideration.
2. Industrial Boulevard
- Pavement condition warrants a mill and overlay.
- Constructed in the 1970's and overlaid on 1987.
- The east section has never had concrete curb and gutter.
- General condition of the existing curb and gutter on the west section is
good.
Elk Hills Development
- Pavement condition warrants an overlay.
- Paved in the 1970's with no record of overlay.
4. Main Street from Lowell Avenue to Orono Bridee
- 2009 discussion of full depth reclamation and repairing
5. Knollwood
- Pavement condition warrants an overlay
- Last overlay was 1988
6. Meadowvale Woods
- Original pavement in fair condition
- Large lots
Maintenance Overlays:
1. Orono Parkwav
- General pavement condition is good to very good
- Do `spot patches' of mill and paver overlay to repair the spalling and patched
areas
2. Zane Street South of Main Street
- General pavement condition is good to very good
- Do `spot patches' of mill and paver overlay to repair the spalling and patched
areas
193`d Avenue from Highway 169 to Evans Street
- Pavement condition warrants a mill and paver overlay
- Signal system loop detectors need to be replaced
I will be present at the Apri15 Council meeting to discuss the possibilities of these as
assessed overlays. Three areas are noted as maintenance overlays because they are on major
collector streets and are of limited scope in coverage. I will have a handout at the meeting
outlining the estimated costs for residential overlays, mill and pavement repairs and full
depth reclamation and repair.
