SUBJECT: Certificate of Commendation to the Elk River Wastewater
Treatment Facility
The City of Elk River and its Wastewater Treatment Facility staff received a Certificate of
Commendation from the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) recognizing
exemplary effort expended in the year 2009 to comply with MPCA's permit program to
protect and preserve the waters of Minnesota. Elk River was one of 170 cities to receive the
commendation. A total of 510 cities applied for the award but only about thirty percent
received the award. The City has received this award 14 times.
Receipt of this award is due to the outstanding work of the staff in the Wastewater
department and their work to comply with all of the MPCA requirements. Gary Leirmoe,
Chief Wastewater Operator will be at Monday's meeting representing the Wastewater
department staff. The other staff members include: Lead Wastewater Operator Matt Stevens,
Wastewater Operators Chris Clark, Kevin Beadles, Nick Flaherty, and Maintenance
Operator Dale Eckert.
