Agenda Section Meeting Date Prepared by Administration A ri15, 2010 Phil Hals, Street Su erintendent Item Description Reviewed by Fees for Compost/Wood Waste Drop Off Lori ohnson, Ci Administrator Reviewed by Action Requested Approval to set annual user fees for the compost/wood drop off of $10 for residents and $100 for commercial users. Background/Discussion This item was discussed at the March 15 Council meeting. Staff agreed to further research the fees and report back when a County-wide decision on fees had been made. The consensus of the Sherburne County Municipal Recycling Board is to set a fee of $10.00 per year for Sherburne County residents and $100.00 per year for the commercial contractors. This fee schedule is being recommended by the Sherburne County Municipal Recycling Board to their respective city councils for approval. A minimal user fee will help stretch the SCORE funds and keep this popular program operating. All County residents will pay the same fee. The City will retain all fees received. Residents and commercial users will be allowed to use any drop off site in the County as long as they have paid the fee. The Recycling Board intends to review and adjust fees next year. Financial Impact Cost to the Ciry would be about $1.00 per sticker, plus the administrative costs of selling the stickers. The funds generated would be applied to the contracted grinding costs.
