Action Requested
Approve the hiring of Shanti Goth as a regular part-time (30 hours per week) liquor store clerk at step A.
Background/Discussion
At the February 16, 2010 Council meeting, the City Council approved a few liquor store staffing items,
one of which was the hiring of a 30 hour per week part-time liquor store clerk. We advertised for this
position, received 44 applications, and interviewed the three applicants that had previous retail liquor
store experience.
Shanti Goth worked for the City of Elk River as seasonal liquor store clerk in 2000 and 2001 while she
was attending college. Ms. Goth also has retail liquor experience from employment at Rogers Municipal
Liquor and Rogers Wine and Spirits.
Financial Impact
With the retirement of Mike Donais and the other staffing items approved at the February 16, 2010
council meeting, the cumulative financial impact should actually result in budget savings.
