SUBJECT: Award Presented to the City of Elk River
ITEM 6.4.
During the 2010 Minnesota Chieps of Police Conference, I was both surprised and honored
to be presented and receive an award on behalf of the City of Elk River. This award was
given out during the Minnesota Chiefls of Police Annual Business Meeting held in St. Cloud
on April 13, 2010.
The award was presented to the City of Elk River by MNESTA (Minnesota Electronic Security
and Technology Association). Elk River was recognized as the "Alarm Management Agency of
the Year" for 2009. This accolade was given to the City for the passing of our local alarm
ordinance which drastically reduced the number of false alarm calls that the police
department responds to each year. Nationwide, one city is selected each year to receive this
award on behalf of the national group that represents the International Chiefls of Police
Association -the Security Industry Alarm Coalition.
I will be present at the Council Meeting on May 17, 2010 to present this award to the
Council.
